Fat Turtle Theatre Company
Submissions are now being accepted for the First-annual The Incubator: Fat Turtle Theatre’s New Works Project, conducted by Fat Turtle Theatre Company in Indianapolis, IN, in partnership with the Arts for Lawrence.
Playwrights live in Indianapolis. Fat Turtle Theatre Company wants to hear from them. The Incubator wants to help grow the next great Indianapolis-area playwright. One script/musical will be selected from this project to be produced into a full performance. It will start with being workshopped over a one-week period, resulting in public readings/showings. The script will be assigned a director from the talent pool of the Fat Turtle Theatre Company. Playwrights must be present during the workshop process and will be allowed to perform as many rewrites as they prefer as they see the process unfold.
After the workshop week, the play will take a break as the playwright and Fat Turtle discuss all findings from the workshop and redevelop the script into a finished project. After a month of redevelopment the full performance will begin. Casting and rehearsals will be done over an 8-week period and the performance will run for 2 weekends.
The winning script will be rewarded $500 for plays and $1000 for musicals. The playwright will maintain all rights to the script, outside of allowing Fat Turtle Theatre Company full rights during this initial workshop and performance.
Only new, full-length, never produced pieces will be considered.
There is no fee to submit.
